Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and the Royal Society of London (CA) in accordance with the signed Memorandum announce a joint Russian-British initiative research projects competition in 2014.
The aim of the competition is to grant financial support for joint initiative research projects being conducted by Russian and British scientists.
TERMS OF THE COMPETITION
The Competition supports basic research projects being conducted in the following areas of expertise:
(01) Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics;
(02) Physics and Astronomy;
(03) Chemistry and materials science;
(04) Biology and Medical Science;
(05) Geoscience;
(07) Information, Computer and Communication Technologies;
(08) Fundamentals of engineering sciences.
Content of the applications must be previously discussed and agreed in advance by Russian and British scientists taking part in the research competition. Russian scientists must send their applications to RFBR while British scientists must apply to CA.
The term of conducting joint initiative research project is 2 years.
Attention: The name of the project must be the same for both Russian and British application.
Applicants are welcome to submit their applications in RFBR information system from 2 December 2013 till 3 February 2014, 17:00 (MSK).
The competition results will be available in May 2014. The projects will be funded only in 2014 according to the competition results. The decision to continue funding a project for the next year (2015) will be based on expertise results of the progress report.
Attention: RFBR funds only Russian participants.
For Russian participants, all the project implementation costs must comply with the "List of standard costs on research projects implementation, funded by RFBR".
The name of the project must not match the name of any scheduled theme, which is being performed in Russian organization, and has been funded from the federal budget.
The results of researches on the Project must be published in reviewed scientific editions with the reference containing the Project number.
Example: «The reported study was partially supported by RFBR, research project No. 14-00-00001 a.»
The decision of RFBR to fund the project will be based on the results of the independent parallel expertise of RFBR and CA. The refusal of CA to provide a grant for the application of the British participants eliminates the funding of the Project, supported by RFBR, by the latter.
Information on the content of the application and the expert examination results is in strict confidence. According to the rules of RFBR, the experts and the employees of the Fund are not entitled to divulge it. The supervisors of the Project get access to the expert review after the decision of RFBR on funding or the refusal to fund the latter.
RFBR does not take part in deliberations on the results of the expert examination.
The progress reports must be submitted by Russian scientists to the RFBR and by British scientists to CA, respectively.
Attention: The refusal of CA to continue funding the Project, based on the results of the interim report expert examination, eliminates the funding of the Project, supported by RFBR in 2015.
